Verbier sits on a south-facing shelf above the Val de Bagnes and is one of the great freeride resorts of the world — the Bec des Rosses above it hosts the Freeride World Tour final. The 4 Vallées lift pass covers a very large area, though the links are long and not always quick.
It is a resort for confident skiers. The pisted terrain is more limited than the size of the area suggests and the beginner provision is modest, but for a group that skis well and wants a lively evening, Verbier has few equals in Switzerland. The village itself is attractive, spread out and expensive.

If you are not skiing
Good. The village has real shops and restaurants, the setting is sunny and open, and the Mont Fort cable car is worth riding for the view alone.
